Sihanouk Ville Destination

Sihanoukville also known as kampong Saom, is a province of cambodia on the gulf of thailand. this port city is a growing cambodian urban center, located 185 kilometres (115 miles) southwest of the cambodian capital, phnom penh. Surrounded by white-sand beaches and undeveloped tropical islands, Sihanoukville is the closest thing you get to the costa del cambodia.

The big attractions around here are the four beaches ringing the headland. Visitor numbers have risen steadily in recent years - especially the new flight connection Siem reap - Sihanoukville. Despite the boomtown rents, the city and its sandy bits remain pretty laid-back. If you like exotic and remote place, kep is few hours away from Sihanouville, and a good choice for a beach holiday in one of the most beautiful bays in the World!

The Sihanouk Ville town area is spread thinly across a peninsula, surrounded on three sides by beaches, with the downtown area near the center of the peninsula a couple of kilometers from the beaches. If you are arriving in town by bus or taxi, you'll be dropped of at the bus station near the Independence Square.

Sang Saa Private Island: It features luxury Over-Water, Jungle and Ocean-View villas built with sustainable materials and with the deepest respect for the natural environment.
At the resort’s heart is a world-class restaurant and lounge, spectacularly positioned just off the island’s shoreline and surrounded by sea. A short stroll on the boardwalk will leave you perfectly positioned to take in dramatic sunsets, seascapes and starry nights.

Sokha Beach: Explore the private pristine white sandy beach stretch out of 1.5 kilometres long. 25 minutes from the airport and 2 minutes away from Sihanouk Ville downtown.
Ochheuteal Beach: is the most active beach in Sihanoukville and very popular with travelers and weekenders alike. Thatch-roofed seafood shacks and beach bars line the sand from one end of Ochheuteal to the other. Next to it is “Serendipity beach” which is especially popular with budget travelers.
Ream National Park: It’s situated approximately 18km east of Sihanoukville. Probably another 10 kilometers to get inside the park down to the beach. Monkeys, Dolphins, Deer, Wild pigs and abundant of bird life can be seen through this 21,000 hectares. The park covers 15,000 hectares of land and 6,000 hectares of marine habitat. There are 155 species of birds in the park including a few threatened species.
Kbal Chhay Waterfall: Located approximately 16km from downtown Sihanoukville on national road 4. The 14m high waterfalls were discovered in 1960 and developed into a source of fresh water for Sihanoukville in 1998. It has definitely emerged as a favorite among local and foreign visitors.

Practically speaking, Cambodia has four seasons: 1) November-February: cool/dry; 2) March-May: hot/dry; 3) June-August: hot/rainy; 4) September-October: cool/rainy.
As we go to print in May, it is the middle of the hot season and nearing the end of the dry season. Mid-day temperatures are averaging in the low-mid 30s with occasional afternoon 'mango-showers' - brief, comparatively light afternoon and evening rains. The mango showers will gradually increase in intesity until the monsoon rains beign in late-May or June. Not the best beach weather but it's warm, it doesn't rain all the time.
